Montville's Basilica Joins UConn Football Program

Recent Montville High School graduate Jake Basilica has joined UConn's football program as a walk-on and hopes to make the team this year.

The Day reports that Basilica, an offensive lineman, had offers to play football at Division II schools. However, he wanted to play Division I football, and has agreed to become a preferred walk-on at UConn.

"You hear the old saying, 'you only go around once,'" Basilica told the newspaper. "I thought I had a shot and decided to take it. I enjoy the challenge of it. Everything about it intrigued me. I like being close to UConn. UConn is a great school."
