Police: Montville Grandmother Sought Drugs Before Missing Person Search

A Montville grandmother accidentally called a family member in an effort to purchase drugs prior to a missing person search for the toddler, according to the Connecticut State Police.

According to a press release from Connecticut State Police Troop E, 46-year-old Tonya Douchette of 197 Route 163 in Uncasville was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under suspension, and risk of injury to a minor. She was held on a $10,000 bond.

The Ledyard Police Department began a missing person investigation on Sunday afternoon to locate one-year-old Deiondre Douchette-Pina, who had been seen last with his mother the evening before. According to police, Douchette inadvertently called a family member to purchase drugs on Sunday morning and did not call again.

Police issued a Silver Alert and information on the infant and Douchette's vehicle. Douchette and the vehicle were found in Montville and later arrested. The child was returned to his mother.
