Her post office, on the Norwich-New London Turnpike, adjacent to St. Bernard school, is the main post office in town.

It is a bustling place, with letter carriers, trucks, post office boxes and a large counter. A dozen routes are run from Bigelow's post office. Three are city routes, nine are rural.

The office of the registrar is responsible for administering elections.

In all Connecticut towns, there areMore two registrars, one Democrat, one Republican. They test the voting machines, make sure the ballots are correct, keeps records on voters, sets up and runs all elections.

A resident may register to vote in this office, or may download a registration form and deliver or mail it to the office. The registrar's office also holds an annual registration drive at the high school.

To register, one needs proof of residency, such as a driver's license, a state ID, or mail postmarked within 30 days, showing the resident's address, not a post office box.
