Montville Fire Department No. 1

<p>On the rock ledge at the side of the parking lot, Sparky watches over Fire Station No. 1.</p> <p>Inside, it's Chief Ron Turner who does the watching.</p> <p>A transplant from Waterford, Turner has been in Montville for 17 years. He says there are 25 active volunteer members; three are women. All are certified by the state. There are 12 EMTs and three emergency responders.</p> <p>The station has 10 trucks, two ambulances and a couple boats. Montville's oldest truck, "The Old Lady," built in 1931, has been restored - entirely with money the fire department raised itself.</p>
