A Baseball Meet and Greet, Art, a Historic Walk, and More in Montville This Weekend

Twelve Inking - Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Friday, 5 p.m. - A delightful group of 12 talented printmakers will be exhibiting during the months of November and December. Watermarks, Platemarks, Chine Colle, and ala Poupee methods will be on display. The 12 artists who are exhibiting are: Marie Louise Long, Susan Nichols, Jennifer Wheeler, Bethany Bonner, Shirley Bernstein, Margot Rocklen, Casey Welbust, Alida Ferrari, Rita Dawley, Sadie Davidson DeVore, Annie Wildey, and Carol Dunn. This event is open to the public and free of charge. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The Drunken Palette Class: The Twisted Sunset

Friday, 7 p.m. - Bring your favorite beverage and have a great time painting for two hours. You will leave with a complete painting done by you. Alcohol is encouraged but is not required. 5K Run/Walk and Children's Race
Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - Inspired by the violence in Newtown and in an effort to restore the storm ravaged east coast after Hurricane Sandy, Where Angels Play Foundation is creating 26 living memorials to all children who have been victims of violence while creating safe, fun places for children to be children. New London’s Riverside Park has been chosen to receive one of the playgrounds. All proceeds will benefit the Where Angels Play Foundation. The children's race will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the 5k will begin at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children. Old Mystic Fire Department Open House
Saturday, 10 a.m. - There will be fire truck tours, fire safety information, and live demonstrations. There will also be a holiday food and toy drive to benefit the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and the Town of Groton Food Bank. For more information, call OMFD HQ at 860-536-2220.

Meet and Greet with Wally the Boston Red Sox Mascot
Saturday, 11 a.m. - Wally, the Boston Red Sox mascot, is coming to Mystic Aquarium. If you are a Red Sox fan, you won’t want to miss this chance to meet Wally and get your picture taken with him. Baseballs to be autographed by Wally can be purchased now or on Saturday. A limited amount is available. Also available for purchase that day are autographed "Wally" baseball cards. Come in your Red Sox hat or shirt and get $5 off general admission. The discount is on general admission only, and is only valid on Saturday. The discount cannot be combined with any other offer and you must purchase a baseball or baseball card from Mystic Aquarium in order to be autographed by Wally. Preregister for your baseball here.

New England Science and Sailing Benefit Gala
Saturday, 6 p.m. - There will be cocktails, a raw bar, a plated gourmet dinner, and a live auction. There will also be a raffle, music, and dancing. All proceeds will benefit the New England Science & Sailing Foundation. For more information, please contact lauren@nessf.org or call 860-245-4472.

Walkabout at the Historic Samuel Smith House
Sunday, 1 p.m. - See the home, tour the land, and see the plans for the future. Soup, bread, coffee, soda, and dessert will be served. There will be entertainment by Ted Phillips & Co. The cost is $10 for adults and children under 12 are $5. The event will be held rain or shine.
