Early estimates indicate that the third annual MADD About Dancing competion at Mohegan Sun raised more than $20,000 for Mothers Against Drunk Driving Friday.
The Cabaret Theatre seats approximately 350 people and the show sold out this year for the third year in a row, according to Mohegan Sun spokesperson Cathy Soper. There was also a silent auction of memorabilia before the event and a spontaneous and boisterous auction afterward when emcee Jimmy Lane, of WCTY, directed the bidding for a poker game with guest performer and country musician Chuck Wicks.
Celebrity participants were paired with professional dancers from Arthur Murray Dance Studios. A panel of three judges awarded points to the celebrities for their performances. The male and female participants with the most points were awarded a trophy – FOX CT Meteorologist Rachel Frank and Waterford Patch won the competition.
