For His Senior Project, and His Courage in Asking for Donations, Rickards is the Patch Whiz Kid This Week

Name: Loren Rickards

School: Montville High School; he is a senior.

Accomplishment: Coming up with the plan to build a storage shed for the Montville Youth Center.

His Key to Success: Persistence.

Rickards came up with the idea for an Eagle Scout project, but then his troop disbanded. He stuck with the idea, and now, is pursuing it by raising funds, discussing the project with individuals and groups, and marketing his idea.

“A sponsor will donate towards one or more square feet of the shed. For your sponsorship donation, you or your family will be recognized on a plaque that will be permanently mounted on the front of the shed," he said, in a . "If we have sponsors for every square foot of the shed, all of the material will be paid for. If we exceed our goal, the additional money will be used to purchase new equipment to fill the shed.”

Want to help? Rickards is seeking $1,900, or $25 a square foot. There is a drop box available at the Youth Center for donations.
