Montville's Stergio Named to North Eastern Athletic Conference Team

Star basketball player, Stergio graduated form Montville High School in 2008; she now attends Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.

 

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released its 2012-13 women's basketball all-conference awards this week and Gallaudet University senior forward Lindsay Stergio was named to the second team. 

Lindsay is from Montville -- a 2008 Montville High School graduate, star basketball player and an inspiration to many.

Gallaudet is in Washington D.C. and is devoted to providing programing for deaf and hard of hearing students.

At Gallaudet, Lindsay started all 25 games this past season for the Bison and averaged per game 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals. She finished the season with 375 points, 225 rebounds, 64 assists, 50 steals and eight blocks. She netted a career-high 28 points in the final game of the season, a 69-50 win over Penn St.-Berks on Feb. 16.

Nationally, she ranks 46th in the country for double-doubles made with 11, including the last four games of the season.

Lindsay led her team in 14 different statistical categories and ranks in the Top 10 for seven different NEAC statistical categories. She was also honored as a NEAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week on Nov. 26 after she earned GU Holiday all-tournament team honors.

Lindsay also played in the 22nd annual Deaflympics in Bulgaria this past summer.
