Area Youth Football Opening Weekend Games Postponed

Hurricane Concerns Push Week 1 Games to Week 10

 

Hurricane Irene has caused the postponement of the Southern New England Youth Football Conference opening weekend Saturday and Sunday, making week 2 on Sept. 3-4 the new opening week for area teams in Waterford, New London, Groton-Mystic, Stonington, Ledyard and Montville.

League president John Taylor announced on the conference's website www.eteamz.com/SNEYFC that all week 1 games will be postponed to week 10. The playoffs and Super Bowl will take place a week later in November

"After many discussions and situations that have arised due to the upcoming hurricane, The SNEYFC Executive Board has decided to postpone all games this weekend for week one," Taylor wrote. "All games will be played on week ten. This will move all playoffs and championships and the Superbowl out an additional week. Weigh-ins will still take place as scheduled on Saturday morning at Ledyard High."
