St. Bernard Plans Busing for Shoreline Towns

North Stonington, Pawcaturk, Stonington, Mystic, Groton and Quaker Hill will be covered

St. Bernard School has announced that bus transportation will be available, starting in the fall, for students in much of the Westerly/Stonington/Groton area.

The route will begin in Preston, proceed down Route 2, and then Route 1 South with seven stops throughout the North Stonington, Pawcatuck, Stonington, Mystic, Groton and Quaker Hill areas.

The bus schedule will include a morning and late afternoon run, which allows the students to arrive at the school at 7:30 a.m., and leave school at 5:15pm.

The decision to re-establish busing to these shoreline communities, the school said in a press released, was based on the results of a feasibility study conducted in the spring of 2011. "Additional transportation routes will be considered given student interest and sufficient ridership," the school said.
