School Board Budget Presentation Is Saturday

The Meeting Is Scheduled for 9-11 a.m. in the Montville High School Library. The Board's Regular Meeting Is Scheduled for Tuesday.

The Montville Board of Education will review its 2011-2012 budget proposal Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Montville High School Library/Media Center.

The meeting is scheduled to last until 11 a.m.

The Board holds its regular meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the high school library/media center.

This meeting is very busy! Presentations include the Montville Marvels, recognition for Thomas J. Amanti and for the Montville High School Soccer Team, the Raising Readers Program at Mohegan School and the Digital Backpack, from the r. Charles E. Murphy School.

Acknowledgments will include Nic Savoie, for his work on the X2Aspen project; Kayla Hill of Mohegan School, for donating her hair to Wigs for Kids; Wen Jing Ou, of Mohegan School, for helping Chinese kindergarten students get used to school; and Delek Cheokey, for helping Mandarin and Tibetan kindergarten students accustom themselves to Mohegan Elementary.

From Oakdale, Timothy Leitzinger and Alexa Charles are to be acknowledged for supporting a friend in need, and "teaching the true meaning of courage with a smile."

From the Dr. Charles E. Murphy School, Morgan Lee and her mother, Michelle, for the improvements in Morgan's reading; and Emily Leffingwell, for her courage dealing with alopecia areata.

From the Leonard J. Tyl Middle School, Brianna Riodan, for being a role model for her peers; and Laura Commons, for being helpful and supportive.

From the high school, Josh Cushing, Andy Chery, Alivia Gilbride, Zachary Scovish and Rachel Skinner of the Montville High School Chamber choir.

From Palmer Academy, Dr. J. Eugene Lewis, for his slide show on Climate Trends in the Arctic Circle.

The board will also consider and act on recommendations/approval of the proposed budget for 2011-2012, and consider and act to adopt the proposed school calendar for 2011-2012.

There are a number proposals under new business, including projects at a variety of schools. And there are opportunities for the public to comment, as well.
