Photo Contest: Back To School!

Share your favorite first day of school photo with Patch – you could win a prize!

Is there a more-photographed event than the first day of school? OK, maybe weddings, but who doesn’t remember Mom making you pose in your brand-new outfit on the front steps of the house and offer up a big fake, summer-is-over smile?

Patch loves the first day of school, and we want to share in your memories with our latest contest.

To enter, upload your favorite first day of school photo to this article. It can be from this year, or 30 years ago! Tell us in the caption what makes it special to you – Patch editors will weigh that when choosing the finalists.

You may only enter one photo.

We will accept photo entries from 4 a.m. Aug. 20 through 5 p.m. Sept. 4. Patch editors will then choose the finalist photos.

Voting in the comments section of the article will begin at 4 a.m., Sept. 5 and end at 5 p.m., Sept. 7. The photo with the most comments will win a prize – it could be a $50 gift card or something of equal or greater value.

Hi Akil, You don't need to email it. You should be able to upload it by clicking on the "Upload Photos and Videos" box that is visible in the body of the story. Give that a try and let me know know if you have any problems. I've not seen any photo that you might have sent pop up in my email or elsewhere on the site but you don't need to go through me to make this happen. Good luck!

I like the little guy who is crying in a corner (photo credited by Ben Miller) since it reminds me of alot of kids who are not quite sure if they are ready for school.

Hi everyone - voting has not started yet. We extended the submission deadline one day so folks who started school yesterday could enter. Look for a new article for voting on Thursday!

I vote for Payton, #6!
Chris Lawton September 05, 2012 at 04:36 PM
the rules were set and posted! (see article above) There was no notice of the rule change! It would not be fair to change the rules after the contest and voting has started.

Hi everyone - sorry for the confusion - this is not the article to vote on - it will be posted at 4 a.m. Thursday - we extended the entry period by a day to accommodate the districts that started Tuesday. I am shutting off comments here now - please go vote on the new article tomorrow! (We will count these votes, I promise).
