New MHS Principal Named By BOE

Jeff Theodoss will be paid $135,000 a year.

The Montville Board of Education Tuesday confirmed the appointment of a new principal for Montville High School.

Current principal submitted his resignation this spring.

The Norwich Bulletin reports that Jeff Theodoss, a Massachusetts resident and longtime Bay State educator, earned two degrees from Connecticut universities.  The district received 25 applications and interviewed five candidates.

Theodoss will commute from Massachusetts to Montville. He will be paid $135,000 a year and he begins work July 1.

The commute was the reason the last principal left. Seems like an odd choice. Would be interested in qualifications and what an average salary is for a principal in CT. This doesnt tell us much.

According to the National Association of Secondary School Principals, for 2010-2011 the average for a Southern New England high school principal hovered around $109K. That said, there is a range based on enrollment and per pupil costs, etc. Check out this link for more information: http://www.nassp.org/Content/158/table_2_2010.pdf As far as qualifications, we'll get a copy of his resume and get back to you!
