Murphy Second Graders Help Build 28-Foot Tall Gingerbread House

Brick by brick, all 5,800 of them, were stacked to create the life-sized gingerbread house at Mohegan Sun.

Monday morning 65 second graders from Dr. Charles E. Murphy Elementary School visited Mohegan Sun to help decorate the life-size annual Gingerbread House that decorates the Shops Concourse.

The children had a blast smearing icing onto the house and then laying gingerbread ‘brick’ on top to make up the siding for the 28-foot tall house.

This year’s gingerbread house included 5,800 gingerbread ‘bricks,’ 4,500 10-inch roof tiles made of gingerbread and 3,500 lbs. of royal icing.
