With one more meet to go before the ECC Tournament, the boy’s and girls teams for Montville Track stand undefeated, successfully thwarting  the previously undefeated Plainfield at a home meet.

Going up a fellow undefeated team, the competition was hot. The Montville athletes met the challenge with stand out performances in both the individual events and in the relays.

Natalie Bowens of the Montville girls gave put down a string of victories starting with a 100 meter dash win in a time of 12.9  and a long jump win with a 16’4” leap. She capped her achievements by winning the triple-jump with a total distance of 33’3”—a school record.

Shatajah Wattley was another performer who won in multiple events. Clad in flashy pink shoes, She cleaned out the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.9 seconds and the 400-meters in 58.6. She also ran on the winning 100 meter relay team for a group time of 52.2 . For the last 400-meter relay the Montville girls finished behind the Painfield team, but not before Wattley closed a large part of the gap in the final leg.

Montville’s Jen McNamara came away with in the 110-meter hurdles (17.3) and in the 300-meter hurdles (52.3).

The boy’s side featured Brothers Brandon and Bobby Johnson who locked down several wins for Montville. Bobby Johnson took the 100-meter dash in 11 seconds flat while Brandon won the 110 hurdles in 15.3. Bobby won the 200 in 22.5 while Brandon came in first for the 300-meter hurdles.

Jesse Joseph of Montville’s boys dipped below five minutes in the 1600 for a PR of 4:58.9 and a first place finish. Close behind him was teammate Aaron Sheldon who hit 5:00 exactly.

Joseph might have ran faster because of the sound of footsteps he heard in back of him. “I kept thinking you weren’t on my team,” he told Sheldon after the race.

Jacobs also competed in the winning 4x800 team and in the two mile. The 3200 saw an early surge by Plainfield’s Jared Pfieffer  who lead the field for the first two laps. Jacobs and Joe Rainville were hot on his heels and passed him by the third. The two Montville Runners ran close together with Jacobs in front. Finally, Rainville made his move and passed Jacobs, taking the finish with a time of 11:19.

In the 400, Nakosi Hunter took first in a time of 55.3. He was also a part of Montville’s victory in the 4X100 meter relay which was in 45.36 and the 4x400 meter victory relay which was in 3:49.
