Montville Schools Have Two-Hour Delay; St. Bernard Has 90-Minute Delay

No Morning Kindergarten at Montville

Montville Schools are delaying their opening by two hours this morning, and there is no morning kindergarten. St. Bernard has delayed its opening by two hours.

Connecticut State Police at the Montville barrack report a quiet night, in spite of the predictions of freezing roadways. There was one acccident, the dispatcher said this morning, and that was in East Lyme. Otherwise, "no problems."

When he came in at midnight, he said, it looked like the roadways were covered by black ice, "but it wasn't icy at all."

Montville Police dispatch reported no problems overnight. There were no power outages, no reports of roofs collapsing, in short, the dispatcher said, "So far, so good."

The National Weather Service predicts a mostly sunny day for Montville, with a high in the mid-20s. A storm moves in on Saturday, the forecasters say, but that's Saturday.

The Department of Public Works surplus auction which had been scheduled for Friday has been postponed.

Wednesday was Groundhog Day, and Punxatawney Phil, the Official Groundhog, predicted an early spring. We can only hope.
