Montville Schools Are Now Scheduled to Open Tuesday

Superintendent says roads should be cleared by then

Montville Superintendent of Schools Pamela Aubin said today that it should be possible to open the schools on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the day after the Labor Day holiday.

The downed wires, the trees and debris that are still being cleared from the town's roads, and the continuing power outages prompted the decision, Aubin said.

Mayor Joe Jaskiewicz said this afternoon that he thinks Aubin's decision to delay the opening of schools "is a great move."

Until power is restored, showers will be offered at Montville High School from 6-9 p.m. People should bring their own towels, shampoo, soap, etc. People can bring containers during those hours and have them filled with water, as well.
