Montville High School pitcher accepts scholarship offer from Southern New Hampshire University
When we last heard from Montville High pitcher Tre Gonzalez, the junior left-hander was pitching a shutout to lead the Indians to the Class M state baseball championship in June.
Gonzalez has made news again. He has accepted a scholarship offer to play next fall at Southern New Hampshire University. SNHU is a Divison II school that is a member of the Northeast 10 Conference that includes among others New Haven, Southern Connecticut State and Franklin Pierce.
Gonzalez has compiled an 11-2 record over his career at MHS. He owns a 2.18 ERA with 94 strikeouts over 96.2 innings pitched. He is 4-0 over the past two years in the postseason. Tre was the winning pitcher in the 2011 Class M State championship game (1-0) over Seymour. He allowed 4 hits, striking out 5 and not walking a batter in a complete game effort.

“We are extremele happy for Tre and his family,” Montville coach Phil Orbe said. “This is a young man that has worked extremely hard in correcting flaws in his delivery and arm circle over the past three and a half years. It is always rewarding to see someone's strong work ethic result in both accolades and a scholarship to help his family with the cost of college."
