On May 14, 2012, Carl Wilkens will be returning to Tyl Middle School to speak to the 8th grade. The Tyl Middle School's Encountering Survivors students will be hosting an evening event that same day at 6:00pm. I would like to invite the Montville Community to attend. The event is free. Carl has come to Tyl the past two years. What makes him so wonderful is that he has turned his story into one of hope and inspiration. Last year we had several parents, community members attend, and each one left inspired. It was an amazing night. I have seen Carl speak many times and his presentations are never the same. His non-profit organization, World Outside My Shoes (WOMS), is a very reputable organization.
Carl was featured in the PBS' Frontline documentaries Ghosts of Rwanda and The Triumph of Evil. He recently wrote a book about his experience during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide titled, I'm Not Leaving.
