Bridge to Understanding Built With ...Delicious Asian Dumplings!

Chinese and Tibetan students at MHS bring authentic foods to the table, the cafeteria table, that is, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which began Sunday, Feb. 10

 

Ten Montville High School English Language Learner students, who are also members of the Chinese and American Cultural Assistance Association, helped bring a taste of China and Tibet to the high school lunch menu Wednesday. 

The students helped cafeteria manager Sue Osborne prepare authentic Chinese and Tibetan foods as an option for the Wednesday lunch. The meal was also a celebration of the Chinese New Year which began Sunday Feb. 10.

Montville Mayor Ron McDaniel was the guest of honor at the lunch. 

Zhuo Jiong Xu, who is from China, and Tsering Dolma, who is from Tibet, were the chairpersons and the coordinators for this event and both are honor roll students.

“Diversity is the pathway to understanding, understanding is the pathway to acceptance and acceptance is the pathway to friendship,” Xu said.
