At Mohegan Everyone Went Out For A Stroll

A new walking program, begun the first day of spring, gets everyone moving and fosters positive relationships between teachers, students and their peers.

What an appropriate day to begin this project - the first day of spring!

Mohegan Elementary School Special Services Program Leader Jill Mazzalupo told us about this awesome program that began Wednesday. Students and teachers have committed to a walking program designed to get everyone moving and to help build closer relationships between kids, their peers and their teachers.

Mazzalupo said, “students and teachers were invited to find time during their day or even just a few times during the week to get up and take a walk.”

They will be tracking their mileage and plotting the miles on a map to see how far they can walk until the end of the school year.

The entire school walked their first lap together today on the first day of spring. Students will walk their last lap together at the end of the school year.

What a great idea. And I’m sure the kids will be even more thrilled with the plan as the weather gets nicer!
