Winter Storm in October

Winter Storm Alfred 2011

Who knew that we would have a Nor'easter in October?

The power did go out in most of the Oakdale section of Town or 18% of the CL&P customers in Town. The power company will not start any restoration work until the storm is over.

We do have major problems on Forsyth Road and Old Colchester Road. I am very concerned that all of the halfway fixes that were done after Tropical Storm Irene will come undone. The power company needs to reevaluate the repairs and trim more trees in town or we are going to be in for a cold, powerless winter. I urge everyone to contact the power company and complain.

During Irene, I did not have power for 7 days at home, the power company could not charge you for what you did not use but on the other hand Metrocast did, hey Metrocast how about a credit for 7 days of no service?

I hope this is not the beginning of a horrific winter. You can be sure that we will be there for the residents of Montville providing information through the Montville Patch, Montville EM on Facebook and the media. We will continue to provide sheltering when needed such as tonight (Saturday night October 29).

I am still looking for a few volunteers to help out answering phones etc. during drills and storms. If interested you can email me at rocchialini@montville-ct.org or call 860-848-1417.
