Yesterday the Town fire departments responded to a Suburban Propane delivery truck that was leaking liquid propane while parked at Courvilles Garage awaiting general preventive maintenance.
Under the direction of Montville Fire Chief Ronald Turner, that area's traffic was shut down and a safety zone was established.
The Department of Environmental Protection Haz-Mat team responded and assisted the fire departments to secure the leak. The leak was stopped and the truck was taken back to Suburban Propane on Gallivan Lane to burn off the 20 gallons of propane left in the truck.

The leak was suspected to be caused by worn packings in the pump which allowed liquid propane to escape through a vent or grease fitting hole in the pump casing.
Another great job by all emergency responders in Montville! There were no injuries associated with this incident.
