Fire Prevention week is October 7 through 13. This year's theme is "Know Two Ways Out."

Remember to check you home smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and change the batteries. These items may save your life.

Also, with the rising cost of heating your home many homeowners burn wood. Please make sure that you burn seasoned wood and have your chimney cleaned before your start using it this season.

We still have problems with lack of house numbers on houses, please put numbers on your house so you can be found in a emergency. The Town of Montville requires a minimum of 4-inch numbers on your house or on a mailbox pole at the end of your driveway if your house can not be seem from the street.
