Fire Safety for the Holiday Season

As the holidays get closer we decorate our residences with lights and put up the Christmas tree.

The tree should be cut fresh and watered every day once you bring it inside. Please be careful when using extension cords, make sure they are not frayed or overloaded.

This is an interesting video that was prepared by NIST, a dry tree does not even last 60 second before destroying your home once it catches fire.

Also, remember to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors monthly and replace any defective devices. Once the snow starts to fly, help the fire department by keeping the fire hydrants clear if you can.
