WPCA Staffer on Administrative Leave

Assistant Superintendent Tom McNally has been out for several weeks

Tom McNally, the assistant superintendent of the Water Pollution Control Authority Treatment Facility, is out on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Mayor Ronald McDaniel says McNally has been out for two to three weeks.

The town's attorneys are investigating a personnel matter, McDaniel said. He had no sense of when the investigation might be completed.

"Not soon enough," he said.

Mike Didato, McNally's immediate supervisor, could not be reached for comment.

Not surprised didato cant be reached. Hes never at the plant when i go there and never answers or returns phone calls. Nobody on earth is that busy..... Not for 90,000 dollars a year

What a shame. I had the pleasure to work with tom on a project in town and he was great. I wish him the best.

I worked for the wpca a while back and tom is great. He always knew what to do and was fun to work with. If I were him i would do what everyone else does and sue the town

A top administratir in the town and the mayor doesn;t know how long Mcnally has been on leave. here we go again. Another mayor who has no clue what is going on.

Why is the lawyer working on this and not the mayor? Here we go again waisting our money. I hope this is not a democrat vs republican issue

These kind of articles make me angy. You give us just enough information for people to begin guessing what happened and it turns into "us vs. them". It is no wonder why people are calling Patch a gossip page.

Farm guy, my guess is they can't say much because it's on going. With that said things look fishy when u have a top guy who works hard for the town for over 10 years and now they put him on leave. Tom does a lot for montville. I see him at every meeting.

The more i think about this i get more enraged. Ive been to several meetings and seen all of wpxa management in action. No one is more professional than mcnally. I bet when the dust settles everthing will be exposed.
bobbj2010 January 26, 2012 at 06:42 PM
Why is it that the ppl who do the most get treated the worst. If what robert says is true (90k), why is didato always in the shadows? To let others(mcnally) take the heat. Anytime i speak with the wpca to get action done its always with mcnally

I can remember when I helped set up the Montville Fair in the beginning a man said “why do you do this don't you know a good deed never goes unpunished”. He was right when it comes to the town of Montville sometimes. Mr. McNally goes above and beyond call. Heck I saw him at a trouble spot one day dressed in a Tux when asked why, he responded, he was supposed to be at his sister’s wedding but there was an issue so he had to step out to get it resolved. The way his contract is set up there is no over time or flexes time. He is out there all hours of the day and night fixing problems with no compensation for less than $70,000 a year. We get a good bang for our buck with him. You would think rather than let the plant fall apart, we would get this resolved quickly and get him back to work. If not, I am sure Mr. McNally does not mind sitting home getting full pay and full benefits, not having the headache of working, and all at the cost of the rate payers and tax payers’ dollars.

I don't know Mr. McNally but my husband who is a major developer in Monville does and he said that Mr. McNally is a true professinal and a pleasure to work with. We will being watching this situation closley and hope for the best. Montville needs you.

Mcdaniel brought back the ordinance about the WPCA being independent after the last council said no. Now a top person in the WPCA is put on leave. McNally was good employee by some of the WPCA commission before the election but then hes put on leave after the election. stinks of bar room politics.

So here we go again. The Democrats are starting right back up where they left off, playing politics with someone’s life and once again costing Taxpayers about 700 dollars an hour for the all the Attorney’s to investigate a bogus complaint. I’ve been involved in politics in this town for a long time and nothing has changed with the Democrats. They are a vindictive party. They are in power and they can’t let things go. Tom is the Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. What’s that tell ya. The plant Administrator and the WPCA Chairman are in tight with the Democrats and they are using them to go after Tom. What’s the Mayor doing? Why isn’t he trying to resolve this without costing the Taxpayers thousands of dollars? Now is the time to resolve this matter, before the Ordinance is passed. Something else people should know about, is the WPCA is trying to get the Council to pass an Ordinance completely separating themselves from the Town and set up their own little Domain allowing Mr. Lynch and Mr. May to be in total control of the WPCA, with the Town having no Authority over them, yet the Taxpayers will still have to pay for any lawsuits against the WPCA, like we did for the Rand Whitney Lawsuit.

Tom has been working with the WPCA for many years and he was doing a good job or he would have had problems years ago. If I had to guess, if Tom was dismissed for a bogus reason, the Town and the WPCA would be facing a Hugh Lawsuit that could cost the Town thousands and thousands of dollars. Then again I don’t think the Mayor or the town Council cares, because it would require having to do something that doesn’t just happen only on the second Monday of the Month.

Why is montville always in the news for its political drama? Tom has been with the town for twelve years with an impeccable record and judging from all the comments he is very respected by the town. I don't see the the need for him to be put through all this bs, he is on several commitees and always working hard for the town. People always seem to be threatened by respected town officials who go out of their way to help out.
