Montville Republicans and Democrats Head to the Polls to Vote in Today’s Primary

Registered Democrats and Republicans will vote today for candidates running in state and federal elections.

Polls opened in Montville today at 6 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m.

U.S. Senate Primary

All Connecticut residents, either Republicans or Democrats, who vote in today's primary will choose between two candidates each in their respective parties for the open U.S. Senate race.

This is the seat currently held by U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, a former Democrat-turned-Independent who is retiring. 

Democrats

• , current congressman from the Fifth District, the party's endorsed candidate and a Cheshire resident.
• Susan Bysiewicz, former Secretary of the State and Middletown resident.

Republicans

• Linda E. McMahon, a former CEO Of WWE, the party's endorsed candidate and Greenwich resident.
• , former congressman from the 4th Congressional District in Fairfield County and a resident of Bridgeport.

Second Congressional District Primary

U.S. Rep. Joseph Courtney remains the Democrats' endorsed candidate in this large district encompassing eastern Connecticut. He has no primary challenger in 2012

On the Republican side, there are two candidates facing off in this year's primary:

• Paul Formica, the first selectman from East Lyme and the state GOP's endorsed candidate.
• Daria Novak, a businesswoman and executive consultant from Madison.
