Tyl Chamber Choir Sang at Capitol, Advocated for Arts in Schools [VIDEO, PHOTOS]

State congressional leaders, lobbyists heard from Tyl chamber choir loud and clearly, and beautifully, we heard!

As part of ArtSlam 2013, a select few music, art and dramatic art students from around the state met at the state capitol last Thursday to share their respective arts, in our case it was the talented select Chamber Choir from Tyl Middle School under the direction of teacher and choir director Judy Abrams. The students met with legislators following their performance including Rep. Betsy Ritter and Rep. Betty Gallo.

From Abrams:

Representative Betty Gallo was in attendance to hear our performance at the Capitol, along with lobbyist Kate Robinson.  Rep. Gallo was most gracious and kind in speaking with the students and even posing for pictures.  She was pleased with our performance and we were honored to have her hear us.

Because there was no school that day, parents dropped off their students at Tyl.  I served them breakfast – baked goods, juice and hot cocoa. Big Y of Norwich generously donated delicious, fresh bagels and muffins for us.  We are most grateful to them for their donation.
