Great building that was much needed but can anyone tell me why candy and Billy were seated up front when they had nothing to do with this building? Why was past council not recognized for all the work they did? another political joke of Montville. That and the lack of a sound system in a "state of the art building".
Harry H. January 12, 2013 at 06:58 PM
Julie, the only joke was the mayor wearing a police chief badge. While by charter he holds that title he is far from qualified and should not be wearing that badge. Total disrespect for our real police.
gary murphy January 12, 2013 at 07:31 PM
Yes, I can tell you why. Council Chairwoman Buebendorf and Council Vice Chairman William Caron are the leaders of the town council. Also, the Montville Police Department gave the Mayor that badge for "ceremonial" purposes some of you haters never quit. So sad...
June January 12, 2013 at 07:33 PM
Gary, I wouldn't classify tax payers that are inquiring about things as "haters".
gary murphy January 12, 2013 at 07:48 PM
Yes, I can tell you why. Council Chairwoman Buebendorf and Council Vice Chairman William Caron are the leaders of the town council. Recognize the past council for what? picking a building committee. The taxpayers and the building committee should get the credit for this building. Also, if the past council members weren’t booted out of office they would have been sitting right up front with big smiles on their faces.
Julie January 12, 2013 at 08:17 PM
Gary you sound like a fool. The past council under chairman Jacobson not only assembled the building committee but also fixed. The charge as to what they needed to do. I agree the taxpayers and the building committee deserve all the credit wich brings up the point again why was candy and billy up front like they had a say in things? Who's the hater now Gary?

WILL EVERYONE STOP BASHING THE OTHER. THIS IS A MOMENT OF CELEBRATION ABOUT OUR NEW PUBLIC SAFETY BLDG. NOT WHO'S SITTING WHERE OR WHO IS WEARING WHAT. Sorry for the caps...but I can't go a day without reading about this political separation in our town government. especially in this article. Congratulations to the Montville Police Department, to the building committee and ALL the citizens of Montville. This is a positive thing. Let's not embarrass ourselves on this day with our rude commentary's.

A great building for a great police force. This was way over due. Great job to all who helped make it happen and thanks to all the taxpayers for seeing the need.
Dana McFee January 12, 2013 at 09:39 PM
The building committee and Marsha Vlaun were well deserving of all the praise they recieved!!! Thank you for a job well done!!!

Julie, Maybe you should re-check with your sources because Councilor Caron was not at the ceremony today. Things that make you go Hummm!
Donna Jacobson January 12, 2013 at 10:41 PM
Shame on you Councilor Murphy for politicizing an wonderful community event. A tremendous amount of people worked to make the dream of the Public Safety Building become a reality. As far as who should take credit, the Town Hall records are open for anyone who wants to view them.
gary murphy January 12, 2013 at 11:26 PM
Politicize? The lady asked two questions and I answered her. Never did I say any party should take credit for that building. Both groups worked together to get that building completed. So shame on me.

This is ridiculous, can we get back to the three million dollars in black boards & chinese food containers the board of ed purchased?
Linda January 13, 2013 at 02:26 PM
Dominic what are you talking about? The article I read many months ago listed what that money was spent on such as "smart boards" buses and other much needed Capitol improvements. Stay on topic please.

Mr. Murphy That’s funny, your comments makes me believe that you even though Mr. Caron was there sitting up front, maybe you should have checked your sources before you said something. You could have saved yourself from looking like a fool defending Mr. Caron for sitting up front, when he wasn’t even there. You must not be running for Council this year, because you’re up to your old tricks, writing comments that make no sense. I was there and if you were I would have seen you. I hope you are not running for Council because you are not a useful Councilor. You play Politics along with the rest of the Democrats and only support what the Democrats want. You have never gone against the other Democrats sitting on the Council. The vote is usually 5 to 2 or 6 to 1 and you’re not the one. Mr. Murphy, I followed how the new Council rewrote the Charge for the Building Committee, it’s in the minutes as to what they had to do to form a Building Committee, had the new Council not been elected in 2009, the Building Committee would had not been formed until a later date or maybe never knowing how the Democrats operate. It is true, the new Council cleaned up the mess the outgoing Democrats created.

That Public Safety Building is a State of the Art building. I’m sure the Town of Montville will be proud. I wish all the Public Safety Employees good luck and don’t try to form an Independent Police Department until the Democrats are off the Council. They’ll screw that up and the proposal will never get off the ground. Wait till the Building has been fully operational for a year to see what the cost will be and when the Republicans and Independence are elected they can come up with a 5 year plan to slowly acclimate the proposal into the town without a major increase in Taxes to the people.

Well, now I can sleep tonight. I ruffled the "theinformant" little feathers..
theinformant January 13, 2013 at 08:47 PM
You’re right, you got my attention. You’re comments are so ridiculous, even when you sat in the audiences before you were on the Council, you would criticize councilors especially Mr. Beetham. Now you’re on the council and as a Councilman you still don’t show respect to people. How do you get along with the Fireman of this town? I hope you show them more respect then you show the Residents of the town you’re supposed to represent. Sleep well my friend, election time is coming and if you do run I will be out there campaigning against you.

elected by drones
Jillian January 13, 2013 at 11:13 PM
Gary, you need to stop the bantering.
gary murphy January 13, 2013 at 11:22 PM
Jillian, Your right, just to easy. Just having a little fun with my friends.
Corey Sipe January 14, 2013 at 05:04 AM
Does anyone know if there will be guided tours of the facility after everyone moves in? Will the department offer a Citizens Police Academy course? I took the course years ago at Old Saybrook PD and thought it was a very educational inside look on public safety and a great community outreach tool.
gary murphy January 14, 2013 at 10:49 AM
Cory, I was told once the building goes "Hot" (possibly Jan 31 2013) access will be restricted.
james_renee January 14, 2013 at 03:13 PM
