Public Safety Building Groundbreaking, Caucuses and More

The week is full of municipal meetings and events

Monday, July 18

The Economic Development Commission holds its regular monthly meeting tonight, at 7 p.m. in Room 203 of Montville Town Hall.  On the agenda are reports from the mayor and town planner, and a report from the Small Business Administration Committee, about a new survey of existing business regarding hiring and rehiring.

The Public Safety Commission has set a special meeting at 5:30 in Room 102 of Town Hall. Scheduled is an an executive session to conduct interviews for a firefighter for the town, and a vote on a motion to recommend three candidates to the mayor.

Tuesday, July 19

The Housing Authority holds its regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. at Freedom Village, 2 Liberty Road in Oakdale. No agenda was posted as of this morning.

The Town Administration/Rules and Procedures Standing Committee holds its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. in Room 102. No agenda was posted as of this morning.

The Board of Education holds its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the Montville High School Library/Media Center. On the agenda is the consideration and appointment of a for the and action to approve the Board of Education goals for the coming academic year.

The agenda notes that the board expects to hold an executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Wednesday, July 20

The Parks & Recreation Commission holds its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the Town Council chamber. On the agenda are discussions of summer camp, the Fair Oaks building upgrades and the timetable for completion, and the Parks & REc Christmas float.

Also up for discussion is a “Trick or Trunk” Halloween event, the status of the Camp Oakdale restrooms, a plan for marketing the outdoor facilities, and a discussion of a farmer’s market. The cost of lighting the softball and football fields, and of potentially adding a fee for the organizations using those fields is also up for discussion.

Thursday, July 21

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the Public Safety Building is scheduled at the site, 911 Route 32 (beside Montville Hardware) at 9 a.m.

The Inland Wetlands Commission is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the Town Council chamber. No agenda was posted as of this morning.

Saturday, July 23

The nonprofit tag sale at the is to support Boy Scout Troop 60. The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
