Municipal Meetings This Week: Aug. 20 – Aug. 24

There are a slew of meetings this week, including BOE and Town Council, among others.

Monday starts off with a cancellation; the Economic Development Commission meeting has been cancelled.

Tuesday we get back on track.  And if you were hoping to be able to make it to the Town Council and the Board of Education you will have to either be cloned or send a rep in your place. They both meet tonight.

Starting off with the Montville Public School Board of Education Policy Committee Special Meeting at 5:15 in the mall superintendent’s conference room. The agenda includes discussion on booster club, board budget procedures and food service program policies

The full BOE meets at 6 p.m. for its regular meeting in the Montville High School library. The agenda is long and full with items including a discussion of BOE goals for the school year, a presentation of the new state accountability system and a veritable laundry list of reports from staff, committee and liaisons.

Across town at Town Hall at the very same time (6 p.m.), there’s a Town Council meeting albeit a “closed confidential session” to discuss an ethics complaint filed by one councilor against another.  The agenda reads that the council “resolves to act on” the complaint.  We will get back to you on that.

Also Tuesday, at 6 p.m. in Town Hall room 204, the Volunteer Firefighters Relief Fund Committee will meet to discuss the relief fund program.

The Public Works/Solid Waste Standing Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. in Town Hall room 102. Its agenda includes discussion of an RFP for potential town-wide trash pickup and also a potentially very cool idea: a policy to establish a recycle container at the transfer station to benefit town non-profits.

And finally, on Thursday, the Public Safety Building Committee meets at 6 p.m. in room 203 of Town Hall. There is no posted agenda yet but we’ll add it to the story when it is.
