Montville Surplus Auction Is a Success

Nearly Everything Sold, Says Finance Director

Montville’s auction of surplus items brought in more than $11,000, Finance Director Terry Hart said recently.

The auction included a number of vehicles, everything from a 1989 International bus with 214,356 miles, to a bunch of Ford Crown Victorias. There were snow plows, metal desks, lockers, an old metal hospital bed, a typewriter table, old computer terminals and more.

Hart said there were six active bidders. The town’s items brought in $9,586; the WPCA’s items, $1,560.

Hart was the auctioneer.

Nearly everything sold, she said, except a few cars that had minimum bids. The Department of Public Works will sell the cars for scrap, Hart said.
