Updated: McNally Attorney: Parties Satisfied, Montville Settles Two Lawsuits By Former Employees

Tom McNally was fired from the WPCA last spring and former Montville Police Sergeant Richard Lenda filed suit in 2009 against then Mayor Joe Jaskiewicz and Lt. Leonard Bunnell

Update at 11:50 p.m.

Thomas McNally's attorney Jacques J. Parenteau responsed to Patch's request for a statement about the settlement by saying the terms of the agreement prevent him from speaking specifically about the case, other than to confirm that, "the matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties.”

Original Story:

The Montville Town Council Wednesday night voted unanimously to settle two lawsuits filed by now former employees; one who was fired -- Tom McNally -- and one who retired, Richard Lenda, the latter alleging he was treated unfairly by Lt. Leonard Bunnell and received unfavorable performance reviews that cost him jobs after the Montville Police department. McNally alleged his firing was politically motivated.

No details emerged at the meeting when the council announced its vote following an executive session.

Montville Patch has filed a formal Freedom of Information Act request for copies of the settlements with Mayor Ronald McDaniel who said he would provide the files as soon as possible.

Check back with Montville Patch for updates Thursday.

They would not need to settle these lawsuits if the mayor did his job and didn't fire people without cause.
