Montville Finance Committee, Planning & Zoning, and Public Safety Building Committees to Meet

Public Works/Solid Waste and Economic Development Commission Also Are on the Agenda

Tuesday, Feb. 22

The Finance Committee meets at 6 p.m. in Room 203 of Town Hall. On the agenda is a discussion of salaries for the mayor and town council members, discussion of police vehicles, the Montville Ecclesiastical Society Church, and legal fees for the sex-offender treatment-center court case. A budget update also is scheduled. 

The Planning & Zoning Commission also is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Discussions will include applications for site-plan review and coastal area management for the Town of Montville Public Safety Building.

Also on the agenda are public hearings for the Mohegan Tribe, which has applications for a special permit and Coastal Area Management application for a fueling facility on Sandy Desert Road.

The Public Works/Solid Waste Standing Committee is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. in Room 102.

On the agenda is a presentation by Stonington’s Director of Solid Waste about that town’s garbage pickup program, and a presentation by Tony Lowe, of Lowe’s Sanitation Services, on trash pickup in Montville. In addition, there are updates and discussions scheduled on items including the town auction to dispose of surplus vehicles, re-use/free items and tag sales, transfer station operations, a proposed metal-collection ordinance and more. The Public Works sand and salt budget is scheduled to be discussed, as is the sidewalk ordinance.

The Economic Development Commission is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. in Room 203 of Town Hall. No agenda was listed on the town’s website as of Saturday.
