Montville Democrats, Republicans Choose Slates For 2013 Election

The Democratic and Republican Town Committees in Montville have chosen their candidates for elected offices in the local elections in November.

Both the DTC and RTC accepted the recommendations of their nominating committees. Candidates will be running for Board of Education, Town Council, Board of Assessment Appeals, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

For the Town Council, incumbent Democrats Billy Caron, Joseph Jaskiewicz, Chuck Longton, and Laura Tanner will seek re-election. The party also endorsed Timothy May for a Council bid.

The RTC endorsed Dana McFee, the only Republican on the Council, to seek re-election. The Republicans also selected Thomas McNally—currently secretary of the Board of Education—to run for Town Council alongside Rhonda DiMaggio, Ellen Hillman, and Donna Jacobson. In addition to the party members, the RTC endorsed independent candidates Jim Andriote and Kathy Pollard.

Each party nominated three candidates for open seats on the Board of Education. The Democrats chose incumbents Sandra Berardy and Todd Pomazon while the Republicans selected incumbents Carrie Thomas Baxter and Steve Loiler. The Democrats also endorsed Valarie Smith for the race, while the Republicans endorsed Kim Novetta.

For openings on the Board of Assessment Appeals, the DTC nominated incumbent Anne Matson for a two-year term and Stan Gwudz for a four-year term. The RTC nominated Joe Aquitante for a two-year term and incumbent Will Pike for a four-year term.

The Democrats nominated Richard Gladue and incumbent John MacNeil for the Zoning Board of Appeals, while the Republicans nominated incumbent Gregg Bassetti and Gene Jambor.
