Kids' Art Makes Fire Safety Calendar

The 2012 calendar is free! Get one at Montville Town Hall!

Every year, fourth- and fifth-graders throughout the state participate in the Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest.

The goal is to make sure that kids and their families understand that everyone has a role in preventing fires. The contest theme, according to a blurb on the calendar, is "Fire Prevention - Everyone/Everyday."

Winning posters from each town are entered at the county level, and the state winner is chosen from those county winners. The state winner's art appears on the cover of the calendar.

The Connecticut FAIR Plan, which represents the Connecticut insurance industry, sponsors the contest, in cooperation with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association, the Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association and the Connecticut State Board of Education.

The calendars are free and are available in the Fire Marshal's Office in Montville Town Hall, as well as on the counter when you walk in.
