Grief Counseling Today, Muggy, Steamy Weather And Another Police Chase

1. There’s a steamy, sultry day in store for you, Montville with a shower or two or three this morning and mixed sun and clouds for the afternoon and temperatures in the low 90s. Tonight expect a muggy, warm night with a waning crescent moon.  

2. The community is grieving; our collective hearts break for this family; there is nothing sadder than the sudden, unexpected death of a young person. Being a mom and having seen far too much loss of late, all I can say is hug your kids – tightly. Grief counseling is available at the high school today from 10 to 2. The community’s thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family.

3. Another police car and foot chase and subsequent arrest of a person alleged to have committed a robbery, larceny with prescription drugs involved. to grab up Scott B. Rebby, 48, after he tried to escape into Mohegan Sun Casino. The incident, Montville police said, began when a call was made about a possible assault in a car. Rebby was charged with having stolen property and drug possession in addition to the other charges. He was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in Norwich Superior Court this morning. What’s going on?

4. It’s not too late to get kids signed up for Summer Reading at The Raymond Library. The program began June 26, but that’s cool, kids can easily catch up and have until August 4 to get some reading done. And not only do they satisfy school reading requirements but they get prizes, too. Visit the library, make a call 860-848-9943 or check the web site.

5. For those just-graduated Montville High School student’s that haven’t done it yet, the school is asking that they complete the exit form, which the school says is important and helps to assist them in providing the necessary information and final transcripts to the right institutions. This can also be completed as a web survey by logging into your Naviance Family Connection account - select "about me" and then MHS Senior Exit Survey.
