Daily Five: Red, White and Blue for 9/11, Flags at Half Staff and a Day to Remember

Your Daily Five. September 11: We will never forget.

 

1. Today it will be so much like it was that morning, 11 years ago; clear and beautiful. May we never forget.

2. Eleven years ago, today, the unspeakable. To pay homage, the American Legion reminds everyone that flags are to be flown today ay half-staff.

3. At Oakdale Elementary School today is Red, White & Blue Day in honor of September 11. Kids will be wearing the colors of the American flag to pay tribute to those fallen on 9/11.

4. At Saint Bernard School, students will share a moment of silence and prayer. The school has a special connection to the terror attacks of September 11; James Greenleaf Jr., a Saint Bernard graduate, was one of the 2,726 people who died on 9/11. Greenleaf was working as a foreign exchange trader at Carr Futures on the 92nd floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center. A scholarship at the school was created in his name.

5. Speaking of awesome kids, tonight is the Dr. Charles E. Murphy Elementary School Open House with Kindergarteners visits beginning at 5:45 and 5th graders starting at 7. Here’s the full schedule and more information.
