CCM: Proposed State Budget Would Make 'Unprecedented' and 'Negative' Changes

Montville would see a $877,362 reduction in general fund (unrestricted) state aid.

According to a press release issued this morning by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s proposed state budget would “make unprecedented and negative changes to the funding relationship between the State and municipalities.”

“If enacted, these bills could dismantle CT critical local-state partnership and in doing so – raise local property taxes, cut municipal services, and cause municipal layoffs,” CCCM executive director and CEO Jim Finley.

The governors proposed budget, the CCM said, would eliminate car taxes, the PILOT program, public school transportation funding, municipal revenue sharing grant money, and Mashantucket and Mohegan Funding to the tune of $56 million (a revenue sharing program created to help with local property tax relief funded by slot revues).

Montville, the CCM says, would see a reduction of $877,362 in general fund (unrestricted) municipal revenue.
