Campaign Notebook: Courtney Applauds RI Move to Halt I-95 Toll Proposal

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Second District

Joseph Courtney (D): Courtney is applauding Rhode Island's decision to suspend a proposal for tolls on Interstate 95 just across the border from North Stonington. The decision follows the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) February rejection of Rhode Island’s request. After Rhode Island applied for the pilot program last year, Courtney wrote to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood expressing his opposition to the plan and his serious concerns about it.

Daria Novak (R): Novak, defeated Tuesday in the primary by Paul Formica, is pledging to stay active in politics and wants to keep pushing her party to take a more conservative stand.

Senate

Linda McMahon (R): David Collins from The Day wrote about the perceived tension between McMahon and Mitt Romney's newly running mate Paul Ryan. He says this comes from McMahon's refusal to support Medicare changes.
