By Order of the Governor, It's Town Clerks' Week (with video)

May 1-7 Honors Clerks in Municipal Offices Across the State

The governor has declared this week Municipal Clerks Week in Connecticut, an honor for the people who provide "the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies, and agencies of government at both state and federal levels."

The Assessor's Office is right next door to the Town Clerk's Office in Montville Town Hall. Asessor Lucy Beit sums up the vibe in the clerk's office: "It's a happy place," she says. "Babies are being born, dogs are being licensed, it's a happy place."

Mayor Joe Jaskiewicz agrees.
