Booster Pump Station Is Progressing

WPCA Hopes to have station on line by mid-August

Construction on the new booster pump station on Maple Avenue across from the Polish Club is coming along, according to the WPCA.

The Palmertown area has been contaminated for many years. The state got involved about five years ago, WPCA workers say, when several wells along Route 163, Bridge Street and Maple Avenue became contaminated.

With the help of the state, Montville received a remediation grant and installed a water line from the existing one on the corner of Maple and Jerome Road, running down Maple to Dunn's Tree Service, over Bridge Street to Bragdon's Auto, and up to Courville's garage.

When that line was complete, the WPCA tackled the next phase - the booster pump station now being built on Maple Avenue.

This will help increase the pressure serving this area, the WPCA says.

Hydrants in this area that have been out of service will come on line as soon as the pump station gives the area the required pressure.

The building is just about complete and the pumps along with the back up generator are being shipped from Texas today.

Once here, they will be installed and the WPCA hopes to have the station on line by mid-August.
