Behind the Scenes at Police, Public Safety Building

Sneak peek inside the under construction complex, including cells, operations, dispatch center.

 

For Jack Platt, this is perhaps the greatest work of his life.

"I have never done anything as big as thins. It's terrific," the chairman of the Public Safety Building Committee said.

"But I cannot say enough about the committee. I am not the smartest of that bunch. We have an engineer, construction people, architects and Marcia (Vlaun, Montville Town Planner) who is really something. Anybody can put up a building and make it square, but she's right on it when it comes to the important, really important details." 

Mayor Ronald McDaniel described the building project as akin to having a baby.

"It's almost time to bring the baby home," he said. 

On schedule for a early December opening, the location is equipped to handle a regional dispatch and officials hope communities will take advantage of what the state-of-the-art facility will have to offer.

"Montville is the geographic heart of New London County. This is the right place for (a regional) dispatch," Platt said.
