A Slow Start to August

Not many meetings scheduled for this week

Monday, Aug. 1

The Town Council has scheduled a special meeting at 6 p.m. On the agenda is an executive session “To consider and act on a motion to enter into executive session for the purpose of discussion regarding the pending litigation between the Town of Montville vs. the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. Discussions held during the executive session are to include members of the Town Council, Mayor Jaskiewicz, and Attorney Michael Carey.” The council could take action on the matter.

The WPCA is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the council chamber. On the agenda are several communications items, including a list of WPCA property sold at public auction, and a letter addressed to Mayor Joe Jaskiewicz, from Superintendent Michael Didato regarding the Senior Certified Laboratory Technician.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

The Public Works/Solid Waste Standing Committee has scheduled a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Room 102 of town hall. On the agenda are discussions of and updates on the re-use/free items and tag sales program, the Adopt-a-Road Program, road repairs, the “Pay as You Throw” program and more. A discussion of a tree survey and removal is also on the agenda, and is a discussion of the disposal of surplus town property.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. in the council chamber to hear an application from the Mohegan Fire Company for a variance to put up a 40-foot by 80-foot metal building.

Saturday, Aug. 6

The nonprofit tag sale at the Fair Oaks School is to benefit the Montville Youth Wrestling Team. The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
