Route 32 Store Robbed Again

Henny Penny in Quaker Hill was robbed for the second time since it opened this October. Uncasville man charged in first robbery.

Thursday night, for the second time since it opened just last month, the Henny Penny gas station off of Rt. 32 was robbed.

Waterford Police Detective Sgt. Joe DePasquale said a report came in at 8:25 Thursday night that a white male, approximately 6’1” tall with a stocky build wearing a tan hoodie, went into the Henny Penny and implied he had a handgun in his sweatshirt. The cashier gave him an unconfirmed amount of cash, DePasquale said.

Waterford Police, Connecticut State Police and Ledyard Police were on scene Thursday night and state police and Ledyard police dogs were searching for the man, DePasquale said.

If anybody has any information on this case or recognizes the man in the photo of this article, please call the Waterford Police Department at (860) 442-9451. All calls will be kept confidential.

Second Robbery

This was the second armed robbery of the gas station since it opened in the middle of October. at around 10:15 at night, just a week after it opened.

Two men were arrested earlier this month for allegedly robbing the store, one 20-year-old Travis Kalin of Uncasville and the other a 16-year-old juvenile.

Sam Qi, who works at the Chinese restaurant next to the Henny Penny, was worried for the restaurant and said the 24-hour gas station is a crime magnet.

“We are scared,” Qi said. “We don’t want this to happen in this area.”
