UPDATED: Police Confirm Armed Men Robbed Country Marketplace

Two masked men entered the store, 'implied possession of a weapon' and demanded money, according to a press release

State Police at Troop E received a report early this morning about an armed robbery at the Country Marketplace, 1224 Old Colchester Road, in Oakdale, according to a press release from Lt. J. Paul Vance. 

State Police troopers and officers from the Montville Police Department responded

The crime scene was secured, the report said, and the area was searched by officers, troopers and State Police K-9 teams.

State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to process the scene and investigate this robbery.

Troopers at the scene said that "two masked men entered the store, implied possession of a weapon, and demanded money. The two suspects received an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled the store."

Police said the supects were both about 5’10” tall. One was wearing a black hoodie with white stripes on the sleeve and blue jeans. They ran toward Old Colchester Road, the report said, possibly cutting through the Oakdale Country Plaza.

There were no injuries.

Anyone who was in the area of the Country Marketplace or the Plaza and who might have observed anything that could be helpful is asked to please call State Police at 860 848-6500. All calls will be kept confidential.
