Police Seek Witnesses, Information on Friday Accident Between Car and Motorcycle

A motorcycle driven by an Oakdale man was forced off the road and the driver was thrown and seriously injured. The car fled and the driver was later charged with DUI.

 

Police are looking for information about or witnesses to a Friday evening collision that saw a local man sustain serious injures and another charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A motorcycle being driven by an Oakdale man and a SUV driven by a Niantic man collided shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Route 163 and the on ramp to entrance to Interstate 395 southbound. The police report that the car turned left “into the travel path” of the bike forcing the motorcycle off the road and its driver flung into the woods.

The car took off. 

Emergency rescue and police responded and found the motorcycle driver, Mark Richardson, 50, rushed him to Backus Hospital in Norwich, but he would soon be transferred to Hartford Hospital due to the seriousness of the injury to his leg, according to the police report. And a resident told us today he is now in Yale New Haven.

Police sad the car was located later in East Lyme. Its operator, Brian N. Forsyth, 21, of Niantic was charged with DUI.
