Police: Montville Man Shot After Men Enter Home

On Thursday, June 5, at 11:06 p.m., State Police Troop E received a 911 call reporting that a subject had been shot at a Maple Avenue home.

State Troopers and EMS responded to the scene and found a man shot in the back. The man told police that two masked men entered his home and struck him in the head, then forced him into the kitchen area.

The man attempted to run out of the house and was shot by one of the suspects in the back, according to state police.

Emergency care was provided on scene and the man was transported to Backus Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

A female resident was in the home and was not injured.

Troopers searched the area for the suspects and provided information to surrounding police of the incident.

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the scene to conduct this investigation. The crime scene was processed and physical and forensic evidence was collected. State Police Detectives are currently following leads and information developed in this case.
