Police: Man Gave Fake Name To Montville Police To Circumvent Ledyard Cops

Salem's Samuel Moreno is facing charges for allegedly stealing items from a Ledyard home and then giving a fake name to Montville Police.

A Salem man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing items from a home in Ledyard in August and then giving a fake name to a Montville Police Officer.

On Aug. 16, several items were stolen from a home on Town Farm Road in Ledyard and at least one of those items was  pawned at a local pawn shop. After an investigation, an arrest warrant was granted for Samuel Moreno, 19, of 201 Old Colchester Road, Salem.

Wednesday, a Montville Police Officer pulled over a car driven by Moreno. Moreno originally gave the police officer a different name to avoid detection, according to the Ledyard Police Department.

Moreno ultimately was charged by the Montville Police Department with criminal impersonation and motor vehicle charges. The Ledyard Police Department later charged Moreno with sixth-degree larceny for his alleged involvement in the Town Farm Road theft.

The Town Farm Road theft remains under investigation and Ledyard Police hope that more arrests will occur.
