News Reports: Trooper Shot, Suspect Killed During Chase On Shoreline

Old Saybrook police were pursuing armed robbery suspects and called in Troop F for help. During the pursuit, there was a collision and a trooper was shot while trying to take suspects into custody, NBC-CT reports.

WTNH is reporting that a Connecticut state trooper is suffering from severe injuries and a suspect has been shot and killed, following a chase along the shoreline: 

"A Connecticut state trooper suffered what authorities call "severe injuries" after a chase and shooting involving two suspected robbers. One of the suspects was killed."

NBC-Connecticut is reporting that the injured trooper, who was shot, is from Troop F in Westbrook: 
"Old Saybrook police were pursuing suspects in an armed robbery and and asked Troop F for help.During the pursuit, a state trooper's cruiser and vehicle the suspected robbers were in collided on Route 153 in the area of Docs Hill on the Essex, Westbrook line, police said.The trooper was shot while trying to take the suspects into custody."

WFSB is reporting that the trooper's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
